A few words from Paul

The tour kicks off in 5 days and, whilst the rumours of snow next week are making me want to hunt down Mother Nature and threaten her at gun point (surely she has a Facebook page?) I’m still desperately excited. In a typically organised manor I wrote down a list of things to pack ‘vocal-zones, camera, batteries, ginger tea, clothes’!! Clothes? I mean really, imagine if I’d forgotten to write them on the list, I would have spent the entire tour stark bollock naked!

I had an interview on Radio Reverb last Monday with the lovely (if slightly insane) Pete Jones. I took along Tim and Anthony and we played a few numbers which was good fun. There’s no toilet in their studio though and having just come from the pub for a swift couple of glasses of vino, my bladder was twitching like there was no tomorrow. Last time we were there I had to pee in a plastic bottle! Too much information?

I went along to the Royal Albert Hall last month to see the lovely Adele. Looks like I was lucky to see her as she’s just cancelled all the rest of her tour dates due to throat problems. She was AMAZING! Her voice was in fantastic form, every note was beautiful but it was her on-stage banter that just made the audience fall in love with her, she’s so endearing. An inspiration. I’m off to the RAH again twice at the end of the month to see PJ Harvey and Tori Amos, very exciting.

The night of openly gay music at The Marlborough hosted by Simon Walton was a great success. Performances by Catherine Allin, Rose Randles, Alan Bonner and headline act Simon Walton were all fantastic. I performed with the beautiful backing vocals of Katarina Holmberg and Frankie Young and we sang ‘Don’t say a word’, ‘By the river’ and a cover of Florence and the Machine’s ‘Rabbit Heart’ then I did a solo version of ‘Grapefruit’, it was a great night and Simon was a brilliant host. After the show we went for some drinks in town and ended up doing another impromptu gig on a pub piano, much fun!

As some of you may have read on my Facebook and Twitter, The Green Bottle Tour is travelling to Italy in Feb for a five date tour and then to the USA for a 30 date tour. I’m absolutely thrilled to be making it an international tour, I’ll be turning 30 whilst I’m in the states and can’t think of a better way to enter my next decade.

Right my lovelies, I’ll be off now, I hope to see some of you on the road, come and say hi! Ooh yes and also, as a count down to the tour and album release, I’ll be uploading a stripped down piano or live version of an album track from ‘The Last Green Bottle’, watch this space…

Much love

P
