A few words from Paul
The tour kicks off in 5 days and, whilst the rumours of snow next week are making me want to hunt down Mother Nature and threaten her at gun point (surely she has a Facebook page?) I’m still desperately excited. In a typically organised manor I wrote down a list of things to pack ‘vocal-zones, camera, batteries, ginger tea, clothes’!! Clothes? I mean really, imagine if I’d forgotten to write them on the list, I would have spent the entire tour stark bollock naked!
I had an interview on Radio Reverb last Monday with the lovely (if slightly insane) Pete Jones. I took along Tim and Anthony and we played a few numbers which was good fun. There’s no toilet in their studio though and having just come from the pub for a swift couple of glasses of vino, my bladder was twitching like there was no tomorrow. Last time we were there I had to pee in a plastic bottle! Too much information?
I went along to the Royal Albert Hall last month to see the lovely Adele. Looks like I was lucky to see her as she’s just cancelled all the rest of her tour dates due to throat problems. She was AMAZING! Her voice was in fantastic form, every note was beautiful but it was her on-stage banter that just made the audience fall in love with her, she’s so endearing. An inspiration. I’m off to the RAH again twice at the end of the month to see PJ Harvey and Tori Amos, very exciting.
The night of openly gay music at The Marlborough hosted by Simon Walton was a great success. Performances by Catherine Allin, Rose Randles, Alan Bonner and headline act Simon Walton were all fantastic. I performed with the beautiful backing vocals of Katarina Holmberg and Frankie Young and we sang ‘Don’t say a word’, ‘By the river’ and a cover of Florence and the Machine’s ‘Rabbit Heart’ then I did a solo version of ‘Grapefruit’, it was a great night and Simon was a brilliant host. After the show we went for some drinks in town and ended up doing another impromptu gig on a pub piano, much fun!
As some of you may have read on my Facebook and Twitter, The Green Bottle Tour is travelling to Italy in Feb for a five date tour and then to the USA for a 30 date tour. I’m absolutely thrilled to be making it an international tour, I’ll be turning 30 whilst I’m in the states and can’t think of a better way to enter my next decade.
Right my lovelies, I’ll be off now, I hope to see some of you on the road, come and say hi! Ooh yes and also, as a count down to the tour and album release, I’ll be uploading a stripped down piano or live version of an album track from ‘The Last Green Bottle’, watch this space…
Much love

Blog#2
Hey all,
I’m getting so excited about The Green Bottle Tour I just don’t know what to do with myself! The posters and flyers have been printed and sent off to the venues (and to my minions in each city to hand out to all and sundry!) The long bus journeys and cheap hotels have been booked, the garish stage outfits have been discussed (Antony, my guitarist is dreading any outfit I’ll put him in!!) I’ve been waiting my whole life to go out on the road with my music so I couldn’t be happier now the wheels are fully in motion.
On friday we performed at the Komedia in Brighton to support Alistair Griffin, an ex-contestant of TV show ‘Fame Academy’. We had a great show and got some really lovely feedback from the audience. One girl (who had been crazily dancing right in front of the stage) came to me after and said to me “I just had to tell you that my name is Louise and I’m from Germany” then there was a long pause so I thought that was all! “Well that’s great to know, Louise from Germany” but luckily she followed it up with some lovely feedback about our performance which left me feeling very nice. It was our last show as a band before the tour although I will be performing a three song set at The Marlborough Theatre in Brighton on Friday 30th September as part of Proud Music- an evening of openly gay music. I’ll be playing piano and singing with accompaniment from the gorgeous vocals of Katarina Holmberg and Frankie Young from soul/funk act Kiina. Also performing will be my good friends and fantastic musicians Alan Bonner and Catherine Allin and the headline act is Simon Walton who is putting the whole thing together as a celebration of gay music and to launch his debut EP.
In other great news, my album ‘The Last Green Bottle’ recently received a 10/10 review from American music blog site Breaking Music Magazine, you can read the review here www.breakingmusicmagazine.com/reviews
I’m also pleased to announce that the support act for the Brighton date of The Green Bottle Tour is the fabulous Justin Saltmeris (www.myspace.com/justinsaltmeris2) I first saw Justin play at the Latest Bar at the beginning of this year and was instantly hooked to his hypnotic whisky soaked vocals and melancholic, poetic tunes. You’re gonna love him. Tickets for the Brighton show are now available at www.www.pauldiello.com under ‘shop’.
For those of you that know my lovely violinist Tessa, you’ll be excited to hear that she has taken up the ukelele and will be debuting her new skills at the Brighton show of the tour in a duet with myself, I can’t wait (and no, we won’t be performing ‘when I’m cleaning windows’!)
Lastly, I’m very excited to announce that in February next year I will be heading to Italy for La Bottiglia Verde Tour! Yes The Green Bottle Tour will be starting off in Parma (perhaps I’ll do a Gaga and make myself a ham dress?!) and working it’s way around Northern Italy from 8th-12th Feb, venues to be confirmed later.
Right my lovelies, I’ll be signing off now, must brush up on my Italian (by ordering a Dominoes pizza!) I’ll be keeping you all up to date on all of the tour shenanigans as we hit the road next month with a tour diary, and it’s being filmed too so you can laugh at our expense via YouTube, yay!!
Much love all round

SEPTEMBER:
PAUL DIELLO – THE LAST GREEN BOTTLE
![]()
I was pleasantly surprised at what unfolded as I listened to the musical genius of Paul Diello creating a quirky simplistic sound in not only his music but his song writing too.
His talent has an innocence about it which I find very refreshing. It soothes you into an almost drunken stupor, before it envelopes you deeper into a near day dream as he holds you in the palm of his hand .
I particularly like the use of classical guitar and violin in his pieces. Diello creates a feel with cello and pizzicato violin filling the gaps beautifully with a passion you can feel emanating through each and every song .
This was all created by a mix of musicians he has met along the way and a pure demonstration that art can be created with out the use of a brush with the sound of electric guitars, drums and a far and distant memory.
One thing I noticed with Paul that he is very much an observationalist as the depth of thought throughout his work have a passion to stop you in your tracks. His descriptive mind almost boasts a parable or two of his own as he takes you on a journey through his imagination.
The backing vocals on most tracks have been crafted beautifully still keeping that simple naturalistic feel and not over complicating things. The use of a more modern electric piano in the instrumental ‘The walk Home’ and the use of bird song and the sound of the sea makes this a very hypnotic track, very calming reminiscent of a carefree walk we may all have taken once.
Paul has been performing since 1999 which started with his brother Michael and friend Tigger in a covers trio called ‘Hessian drape’ playing local pubs until discovered by a founder member of rock band ‘Porcelain’ . Shortly after the brothers decided to start a band of there own as they had material of their own dating back to younger days enabling them to develop their renowned tight harmonies.
And so ‘Shiseido Red’ was born with full quota of electric guitars, keyboards, bass and drums with a fully plugged rock styles. Soon after the boys quite easily drifted into the more acoustic feel and while cutting his teeth with his brothers, Paul began the development of the classical/acoustic sound he has today, cutting a groove deep within his genre .

Hailing from Brighton,UK, Paul has been inspired by many artist considered to be musical geniuses includingTori Amos, PJ Harvey, Regina Spektor, Rufus Wainwright, Imogen Heap, Joni Mitchell and Madonna to name but a few. With these types of muses, it is no wonder Diello is as good as he is and well on his way to musical genius himself.
SOLO SOUND SCORE……10/10
SOLO SOUND SUGGESTION
If ever there was a song to tempt the listener into buying this album it would be ‘Flame’
